When it comes time to put your website on a web host’s server,What are the Advantages of Using Mac Web Hosting? Articles you’ll have many options available to you. You can choose a Windows or Linux based platform, or you can choose Mac web hosting. The first two do have their differences, but they can both be run on PCs and other laptops. Mac web hosting on the other hand, is only compatible with Mac software and it only uses Mac servers. So why should someone use Mac hosting? And what advantages come with it?

People use Mac hosting for the same reason they use any kind of hosting. They like the hardware environment, they like the software that’s offered, and they feel a certain loyalty to a particular brand or company. Some people simply prefer to surround themselves in an Apple world, and that includes when it comes to their website. Other people may use their PC and Windows platforms for everything else but still choose to run their website from a Mac server for the advantages this hardware brings. Because of those, there are many.

One of the biggest benefits that is to be derived from Mac web hosting is that it’s the most secure web hosting that you can find. Like all Apple  products, Mac servers are extremely resistant to hackers and time and time again, hackers who have been hired specifically to try and crack into Mac servers have failed attempts every time. It’s because of this high level of security that many people choose Mac hosting over any other type. This is especially true when customers have highly confidential data that needs to be kept on the server; and kept safe.

Another benefit that comes from Mac web hosting is one that might only seem like an inconvenience at first, but can save a lot of time and headache in troubleshooting later. This is the matter of case-sensitivity. When using a Windows or Linux server, URLs are case-sensitive and so, if any user should mistype it, they would not find the website they’re looking for. Mac hosting however, is not case-sensitive, so as long as users get the spelling correct, they will be automatically redirected to the site. This can be a huge difference for webmasters that are running a website used primarily for conducting business, such as an e-commerce website.

Lastly, those who are already comfortable working on an Apple platform will have no problem moving over to a Mac server for their website. There is no steep learning curve, as there sometimes is for people that move from Windows to Linux; and familiar programs such as Filemaker Pro and Applescript are already installed and ready to use. For those that are comfortable in an Apple atmosphere, this is by far the biggest benefit.

Mac web hosting is not the most popular type of hosting and so, it’s often not the first that many people consider for their own website. However upon closer look, it’s easy to see that Mac hosting has many advantages that other types of hosting simply do not.
