The mandatory sick leave Act would be implemented to business that has more than fifteen workers, and the leaves will be granted as one hour of paid sick leave per every thirty hours worked. The work force is eligible use these paid sick leaves after sixty days.

There is a possibility that a change in health care act would be made in upcoming months and surely this change will not be liked by many small business owners. A bill has been introduced in the senate by one of Senator Mr. Ted Kennedy which is titled as “The Healthy Families Act” after implementation this act would implement compulsory sick leave law and it will facilitate the workers to have minimum of seven paid sick leaves annually. The work force is allowed to use these paid sick leave for their own illness, for preventive care, to care for a child, parent, spouse or "any other human being linked by blood or similarity whose close relationships with the worker is the equivalent of a family association.", or to look for health check or any other legal assistance which is related to family violent behavior, sexual physical attack, or annoyance.

If we see in the past history of Bush administration tenure same kind of legislation was The Times notes that similar legislation was tried again and again many times. This new bill of healthy family act has shown the stats that more than half of the employees in private sector companies and organizations have no paid leaves and the workers who have very less pay scale are also not given these paid leaves, they are given the option to lose their pay and than go for their own care or their families care if any one them is sick and some times it end with losing their job as well when owners give them the option chose between their job and leave.

The business communities in United States are determine and trying their best to stop this healthy families act approval and implementation, these business groups are disagreeing from this act and giving the reason that slump makes this an mistimed to make such a new order because it will raise costs for owners in this recession time. Any how on the other hand the community who is supporting this act says that the legislation is needed more than ever this time, given the swine flu epidemic.

The states like San Francisco and Washington D.C. have already given a call for these compensated sick leaves and Milwaukee as well, and many other states are presently in view of doing so as well. In addition, the legislatures of some other states, including Connecticut and Massachusetts, are debating similar measures.
