According to the United States’ Census Bureau,Divorce Lawyer: You May Not Have Business Much Longer Articles there is a significantly lessened need for a divorce lawyer. The government reports that women between the ages of twenty five and twenty nine are almost as likely to be married as they are to be single. This is almost twenty five percent more than it was twenty five years ago.

The twenty four page study survived 55,497 people who are or have been married, and covered 39,000 households in 2009. This was combined with data collected periodically over much of the past sixty years. Some of the relevant things that could affect the job status of a divorce lawyer are that men and women are getting married later in life than they did several decades ago. According to this report, men are most likely to get married at the age of 28 and women at the age of 26. Most attorneys should advise their clients to consider counseling prior to beginning the legal process to make sure that their client’s have considered all options, and that ending the marriage is in fact in the best interests of their client. Secondly, it is extremely difficult to imagine that there will ever not be a strong need for your legal services. While the marriages may last longer, this does not necessarily mean that people are not having children out of wedlock.

What this trend may signify, however, is that your law practice may have to change drastically. This is because it could become much more competitive to get clients. This may mean that you will have to reduce your rate, or do more to differentiate your practice from the other attorneys in your areas. Another important affect of this trend is that you may have to broaden your practice to include other aspects of family law, instead of just dealing with breakups.
Ultimately, this development should not be the undoing of a good divorce lawyer. There are so many other areas of practice to do other than handling the legal aspect of breakups. Such areas include child custody, adoption work, successions, trusts, and wills. These It will mean that things that should drastically affect your practice.
