Jade had several bad dealings with attorneys in the past. So,Every Bankruptcy Lawyer is Not a Crook Articles she was totally turned off by them. She vowed that she would save her money and act as her own legal counsel. Therefore, when she fell into some financial trouble, it was no surprise that she decided against hiring a bankruptcy lawyer.

"Jade, I don't think this is a good idea honey," her mother said over the phone.

"Mom, believe me," Jade said. "I can handle this. I just don't want to throw my money away again and especially now, because I don't have much to go around as it is."

Her mother sighed, realizing that there was no convincing her daughter.

"Okay, honey," she said. "If you change your mind about the bankruptcy lawyer thing, I know a couple of people who may be able to help you."

A few days had passed and Jade finally decided to start her bankruptcy process. She had all of the paperwork together and she prepared to sit down and fill everything out. However, it seemed to be a little more difficult than she had anticipated.

"What in the world does this mean?" she asked herself. "I definitely need a dictionary for this."

She walked over to her bookshelf and pulled out her favorite dictionary, but she couldn't find some of the words she needed. She then decided to do some internet research. After nearly 2 hours had passed, Jade began to get discouraged. So, she called up one of her friends, who was just starting their undergraduate degree to become an attorney.

"Pete, I really need your help," she said. "I know you are just starting school, but I'm sure you know much more about this stuff than me. Can you please come over and help me with some of this paperwork?"

"Sure, I'll be right over," he said.

When Pete finally arrived, he found himself having trouble with the paperwork as well.

"Jade, I know you don't want to hear this, but you really need to hire a bankruptcy lawyer," he said. "Some of this is self-explanatory, but other parts are just downright confusing."

"Sorry, Pete," she said. "It's not going to happen. I'd rather figure it out myself."

After about a week, Jade finally finished filling out and submitting the paperwork on her own. All she was waiting for was a phone call. After a few more days, the call finally came.

"Hi, may I speak to Ms. Jade Foster?" the person on the other line asked.

"This is she," said Jade.

"Good evening Ms. Foster," they said. "I just wanted to inform you that your paperwork can not be accepted at this time, because there were some improper and incomplete answers. However, you can feel free to resubmit."

After hanging up the phone, Jade put her head down in shame and disappointment, as she realized that she would have no other choice than to hire a bankruptcy lawyer.
