In some countries,Family Law and Changes in Marriage Articles contracts have been changing regarding marriage and this affects family law. Nearly 30 nations around the globe now recognize same gender marriages, civil partnerships and domestic unions. In several states within the United States, some of these changes are occurring, as well. Instead of having only one legal domestic partnership, many variations are evolving. Some individuals may wonder why all of these new and different legalized relationships are occurring.

- Reasons for marriage: There are multiple reasons to tie the knot. Some of them include that the individuals are in love, that they want to raise a family together, that one is pregnant, for money, status or power.

- Divorce: Half of all marriages end in divorce for a variety of reasons. Some of the more common ones include irreconcilable differences, incompatibility, substance addiction, physical or emotional abuse, infidelity, and being in love with someone else. People fight over money, childrearing, sex, power and an array of other sticky issues.

- Signs of impending divorce: Many therapists point to the fact that a couple's relationship doesn't simply break, it dissolves or erodes over time. Here are some signs that a split is on its way:

*Inability to resolve conflict: If a couple can't work out differences that occur, eventually one or both will give up and withdraw emotionally.

*Disconnected emotionally: Each partner must be willing to open up and connect to the other emotionally and be interested in the other. If this isn't happening, trouble is brewing.

*Withdrawal of affection: When partners don't feel affection toward each other, this is a bad sign. Some even say husbands and wives end up not liking each other much anymore.

*No sex: Sex is a way of expressing love and cementing intimate feelings for one another. If it's not happening, this is a barometer of the couple's feelings toward each other.

*One or both partner spending more time away: When one or both spouses would rather work, spend time with friends, kids or hobbies, this is a sign that the marital relationship isn't a fun one to be involved in.

*Getting ready to leave financially: If a divorce is lurking, many spouses begin planning their escape financially. Women who've been home with the kids might start to rekindle their career. Men might purchase a second residence as a rental but really plan to have it as an alternate dwelling.

- The legalities of marriages overhauled: Some individuals are proposing that wedded couples opt for different types of contracts rather than the "happy ever after" version. Some proposals include a 20 year contract for parenting, a 5 year obligation that's renewable for financial partnerships.

There are no easy answers for relationship contracts, long term marriages and divorce. Although many people have ideas about how to keep couples married or how to de-stigmatize divorce or separations, there are no easy answers. All of these legal unions are about much more than just love. Legal marital unions are actually more like business partnerships that have a deeper level of intimacy. Family law firms have their hands full helping individuals into and out of marriages, civil unions and divorce.
