Man Charged with Felony Hit and Run

In Virginia Beach, Virginia, a man is currently facing felony charges after a couple fell out of the back of his truck and he fled the scene.

William Vernon Fowler drives a truck with an open top over the bed. Grazia Moyers and her male friend asked Fowler if they could catch a ride with him in the back of his truck, to which Fowler agreed.

According to the Moyers, Fowler attempted to reverse his truck, but the accelerator was stuck and his truck went about 75 feet before he put it in neutral. Once the truck finally stopped, he noticed that the two people were no longer in his truck.

He exited his vehicle to check on the two and saw them on the ground in the parking lot. Fowler checked on both of the passengers, but left the scene before the police arrived. Moyers was treated on the scene without any serious injuries; however, her friend was taken to the hospital for a head wound.

Police found Fowler shortly after the accident and arrested him. He has since been released on a bond and is facing a felony hit and run charge for his actions in the parking lot.

Fowler had good intentions, but in the end caused serious trouble for himself. The accident was caused by an issue with his car and he did check to ensure that the two were well enough; but he should not have left the scene. Leaving the scene of an accident is a crime, no matter what circumstances led up to the departure.
