Proving Marriage For Immigration and Naturalization

These items need to include the name of the both individuals in the couple, if possible.

Other items to include are financial records including both names. These could be bills and bank accounts. Receipts and records for these are a good way to have proof. Keep in mind that the more time spent together there will be more proof of the relationship. It might not be possible to live together and that would be a good time to travel together or enjoy dates that can provide proof. It will also help to let others know about the relationship and spending time with others. These individuals – both family and friends -- can provide proof.

It is best to know the details about each others life as both the individuals would be asked questions about random things pertaining to the relationship, time together, family life during the interview by the immigration authorities. As these officials have the authority to approve or deny the case, they need to be convinced that the relationship is bona fide. You may also e asked questions about the documents that have been submitted. It is good to brush up on your knowledge about the habits of your spouse, likes and dislikes, culture and preferences. Basically, be prepared to answer any question that the officials may ask you as they can question you on anything related to the documents and visa application.
