The process towards a bail bonds agent or agency status is standardized by state. A thorough background check is absolutely required along with the forms and test. The significant difference would have to be ones reasoning for becoming an agent in the first place. You may have had difficult juvenile interactions with the law and now you believe in some of the accused individual’s ability to prove their innocence. You believe in the process of bond posting. Or you may believe in the time that posted bail allows the accused to be with their family. Or, even if you or a loved one has never been involved with the legal system, you believe that it is a worthwhile career venture for you.

First, if becoming a bail bonds agent appeals to you because of juvenile instances for either yourself or adult incarceration for a loved one, then you have a personal investment in this process. As a young person you were in the wrong place at the wrong time, or you were interacting with a crowd that was involved in criminal activities. But, now you have your priorities aligned with positive and righteous behavior and you’d like to offer the same opportunity to accused criminals who have been granted bail. Now, are ready, willing, and able to help those individuals seek the time with their family and lawyer(s) to pursue their establishment of innocence. Due to that fact, you are willing to vouch for their character, willingness to show up in court at each appointed visit.

You may be the bail bond agent that went into this venture for the belief in the time with family and the pursuit of innocence, but you also believe in being a smart businessperson. And in order to protect your investment, you have to ensure the accused’s attendance in court. In the end, several clients will appreciate your sympathy for their plight, but there will also be clients who attempt to take advantage of the opportunity.
