The Support of a Criminal Defense Attorney

Criminal defense attorneys like all lawyers, act as legal counsel, mediators, and court representatives throughout any case. Not every client is without guilt or crime, but it is with the belief that all men are presumed innocent until proven guilty that these lawyers defend with every resource they have.

A criminal defense attorney is charged with the task of locating all of the physical evidence, witness accounts, medical records, police records, and cases of precedent to support their client’s testimony and/or plea. He or she may represent a single client, group, company, or corporation in their defense against charges or criminal behavior either as the result of negligence or malicious intent. He or she may be a public defender, who is assigned to cases by the criminal court system in their jurisdiction. A public defender is assigned to men and women who cannot afford to hire an attorney. However, a criminal defense attorney may be hired or on retainer for a wealthy individual, company, or corporation for legal situations such as this.
