Most of the normal people on this planet have respect for the law and understand that this is not just a regulating set of rules. It is a basement of a healthy and democratic society and therefore respecting the laws and the rights of the other citizens is one of the most important principles today. Still nobody guarantees that you will never be charged or arrested, it can happen anywhere and because of anything. It could be a mistake or a minor violation that seemed not important to you, or even worse it could be some false charges from your spouse or you business partner. So we will tell you what you should do in this situation and mostly important what you should not do.
First thing that you need to have is an attorney. When you have some business relations it is vital to have a trusted lawyer who has experience in violations related to your business or has just good understanding of your life and personality. It is very important because a good defense in court must be build on solid arguments, if you are in some difficult situation an attorney who knows this situation well is better that an attorney who needs extra time to get into all the details. On the other side if you crime was an accident and has no relation to your everyday life it is better to hire an attorney who has experience in criminal defense and your type of cases. Your future will be in the hands of this person so be sure to pick a good attorney.
When you are charged
in crime the whole process can be divided into two parts – simple and
complicated. The first part is simple. When you are charged a judge will issue
a warrant on you arrest and the local police will send officers who will locate
you and arrest you. The officers need to provide the warrant within a short
time after the arrest; not immediately of course, it can also be provided to
you when you will be brought to the police department. In the police department
you will go through few standard procedures like taking fingerprints and
completing other procedural requirements. Within a short period of time,
usually 48 hours, there will be a court hearing on your case. Before that you
will have an opportunity to contact your attorney and have a brief meeting with
him. On the court hearing the judge will read the charges against you and you
will have to respond as "guilty" Article Tags: Court Hearing Source: Free Articles from ArticlesFactory.com
