Leaders have the potential of producing extremely useful changes like launching of new products. The management however tends to be predictable by maintaining the status quo.

In establishing directions, leadership develops vision and strategies whereas management establishes detailed steps and timetables for achieving needed results along with allocating resources. With regard to developing network for achieving the goals, leadership involves aligning people, and creating teams and coalitions. The management for achieving the agendas, establishes structure, staffs, and develops policies and procedures to guide people.

Leadership is a science which cannot be mastered if a person himself is not a leader. Leadership requires some human features which are sometimes felt by others instinctively, and they will not follow the person if they cannot see he/she is a leader. A good manager can be learnt even without such human natural features. A leader generates ideas while a good manager knows well how to implement them and control their quality and profitability. So a leader must be born while a manager can be taught, and that is the main difference between them.
