In the mid 1960’s toy manufacturing giant Hasbro introduced the first ever action figures called Government Issue Joe or popularly known as G.I.Joe.  Representing the four armed forces of the United States – soldier,Popular characters seen in Action Figures Articles pilot, sailor and marine action figures were the initial offering from Hasbro. Capitalizing, on its initial success, Hasbro launched two more G.I.Joe product line-  the 1964,12 inch line and later the 1984, 3 3/4 inch line. This line was launched as an entire set along with an interesting story line between G.I.Joe and commander cobra. The set was equipped with vehicles and other accessories. Known Japanese toy manufacturer, Takara along with the United States, began creating a new range of action figures from a comic book series called the Transformers. The series is about robot hostility, who have the ability to transform into robotic animals, vehicles and other objects of considerable size. The Transformer line was further developed by Hasbro.

Comic book super heroes Batman and Superman were next on line. These marvel book characters created by Bob Kane and Jerry Siegel respectively have has their own share of action products launched. Widely called as the bat and the man of steel respectively,the Batman and Superman have had several action toy variants to their credit. Apart from Batman and Superman, another iconic fictional character created by Marvel comics is Spiderman. An orphaned character created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Peter Parker is taken care by his aunt and uncle.

Other mostly loved Action Figures

Most of the action figures created till dated have been inspired by comic books based primarily on action heroes. Following various action product lines, Mirage studios in New Hampshire aired a new television action series called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles which were further developed into action toys by a Californian toy company. The turtle line of products were a mass hit and were featured on various children product lines like video games, bed spreads, napkins, watches, t-shirts, towels, caps and much more. Action figures have created a new craze among young kids especially boys ever since G.I.Joe action toys were launched by Hasbro.  Apart from being easily foldable into different shapes and styles, these action toys can be redressed. Such redress able action toys are called action dolls. Most action toys are shaped with specialized clothes on for distinguishing purposes. These action figures have gained worldwide acceptance and contributing to their huge success are their faithful fans.
