Google Announces Big Raises for All Employees

According to some media, in order to avoid the anti-monopoly of the justice department, Google and another five high-tech companies abolished the agreement of the competition for talents. Only six weeks later, Google announced that all employees get 10% raises from January next year. Maybe it just wants to prevent employees’ job-hopping.

Actually, Google has provided a good working condition and good remuneration for its employees. Many job-seekers are fond of Google because of its good policy. However, Google is not conceited. In order to retain talents, Google decides to offer 10% raises for its employees.  

Eric Goldman from Santa Clara University says: “I am not sure that if Google’s raises have something to do with the agreement, but there exists an apparent relationship between the two factors.”

However, Google never discloses whether the raise has something to do with the agreement or not. The spokesman of Google said: “According to the international practice, we are not going to comment on internal matters. In our opinion, the competitive compensation is very important to the future for our company.”

During the one-year investigation, both Google and otherhigh-tech companies think that the agreement is very important for cooperation between them. The justice department said in the agreement that if there is no competition among companies, there will be no problems at all. However, it is a way of reducing the employees’ remuneration.

Most experts think that the raise of Google is to cope with the threat of Facebook. Facebook has taken away many employees of Google. Google never signs an agreement with Facebook about the flow of employees. It is reported that the purpose of raise is to encourage all employees in Google after several executives’ leave. However, the employee who leaks the news will be very frustrated.

Analyst point that Google has 23,300 employees all over the world and it is impossible for every employee to keep the secrecy of the e-mail which is aimed at raises.

The news was announced by CEO of Google Eric Schmidt last Tuesday. Not long after the news was released, “Fortune” has received the copy of the document; meanwhile “Business Insider” also got the news and exposed the news out. Although it is not negative news for Google, to some extent, it is still a commercial secret for Google. Google is very angry and the consequences are also very series.

The spokesman of Google says: “usually, we do not comment the internal affair, but we believe the competitive remuneration plans are very important for the future of the company.” Maybe every company has its own policies, so we need to respect all their decisions and news.
