How telemarketing can be great for your business if done correctly

mediaimage
When people think of telemarketing they immediately think of just sitting down for tea and the phone ringing to hear an annoyingly enthusiastic sales person trying to flog broadband,How telemarketing can be a beneficial sales tool Articles phones, insurance, etc. This is not the case and that’s why telemarketing is extremely maligned and misunderstood. It’s because you only remember the times when sales calls annoyed you, it is a stereotype labeled on sales callers that they only call when you are having your tea, or watching Eastenders. Isn’t that just the excuse you are giving them? Companies do not realize that telemarketing doesn’t have to just be a cold sales call but it can be a courtesy call. These kinds of calls can be a lot more effective. It is best to start with current customers you have on your database that perhaps you haven’t been in touch with for a while. It could be a general call to find out if their circumstances have changed, if there are any problems or just to get feedback. Imagine if you called somebody that hadn’t been in touch for a very long time. It could turn out that for a long time they have been paying too much for a service and there are new offers available, which are cheaper or more beneficial to them.  You could end up saving them money and once that is the case there may be room for a cross-sell or up-sell. If you have built a good rapport with somebody and established that you aren’t pushing sales onto them it will gain trust and you can offer products or services more casually and they will probably be more willing to take an offer up.Another good idea is to call brand new customers that got in touch with you first. Find out if they were happy with how things where dealt with and the service they received. Make sure they got everything that wanted and let them know that you are there to speak too if they have any problems. This will give them piece of mind that the company is genuine and really appreciates their custom. It is more likely that they won’t cancel the service and give them confidence to get in touch more often with any queries. That means there are more opportunities to offer more services and products. Also give people the option to say they are not happy with phone calls and if that is the case then simply remove them from your calling list. If you don’t then some people could get quite annoyed if you keep bothering them. Another thing to remember is to not bombard people with calls. If they make an excuse not to speak to you on more than one occasion then simply give them your details to call you back. This gives them control of the situation and it might have been a polite way of them saying that they just aren’t interested.Telemarketing isn’t all about pressure and it has been proven to be an amazing way to market people. Just remember not to be a pest.
