If all of the hype on television and out on the web is to be believed, all you have to do is set up a website and post a couple of banner ads and you can make a fortune in affiliate marketing. Trust me when I tell you that it just ain't so! Affiliate marketing is like any other business venture-before you can be a success you have to first learn the skills that you need to do the job right.

How can you learn the art of affiliate marketing? This is the question that often stops would-be affiliates in their tracks. Why? They don't know where to go to learn how to do the job, and as a result they throw in the towel before they've even gotten started. That's a shame, because there's an almost unlimited supply of resources out there to teach you how to be a great affiliate!

If you're willing and able to sink a little money into the endeavor there are literally hundreds of books, tapes and videos out there with a tremendous amount of information for the beginning affiliate marketing professional. The cost on these can range from a couple of dollars to a couple hundred dollars, but most of them are well worth the investment.

Through books and videos you can learn how to handle just about any eventuality that's going to arise. There are plenty of marketers who would tell you that once you've learned the basics you really need to slog through the process yourself in order to learn. I say, Why? (Needless to say, these aren't the marketers who are making millions of dollars a year!)
