Promotional Items for all Occasions

Promotional gifts and items are perfect for promoting your company at a whole host of occasions and events, but it's important to select the right ones for the right occasion.

Choosing a variety of promotional items — so that you have items on hand that will be appropriate for a range of different occasions—is an important concept. You won’t give the same promotional gifts at trade shows and exhibitions as you will give to business associates, and they may be different again from the items you give to your employees. With so much variety available, it’s not too difficult to choose a good variety of items, so that you’ve got appropriate items for any occasion.

  • Employee Items

When choosing items for employees, you’ll typically be giving items that are appropriate for office use. A great way of starting off on the right foot with new members of staff is by giving a range of promotional items that they’ll use in their job—desk top items such as calendars, mouse mats, pens, a personal organizer, paper products and perhaps a promotional coffee mug will instantly help them feel like part of the team, and will help to foster a good sense of company awareness.

  • Business Items

Often, your employee items will double as business gifts for clients and business associates, too. However, you’ll want to keep in mind that paper products and smaller desk top items may not be appropriate items for business associates. It’s often worthwhile to personalize your business items, too. Add some gourmet coffee or tea to a gift of a promotional mug, for example, and package the gift attractively, to make it more personal.

  • Trade Shows and Exhibitions

Trade shows and exhibitions are occasions where you really want your promotional items to stand out and grab some attention. At these events you’ll need to invest in some “bait” items to attract attention to your exhibition booth. Bait items are typically large or colorful, with moving parts or items that can be manipulated in some way.  It’s also important to choose items that fit the theme of your company—if you’re in the IT industry, for example, give mouse mats or USB drives rather than a pen pot or beer mug!

  • Purchase Incentives

Purchase incentives are items that you’ll use to increase your sales. For example, you may offer free items with orders worth over a certain amount, or you may want to create a purchase incentive program that offers a free gift after a certain number of purchases. In these cases it’s good to have a variety of purchase incentive items of different values, so that you can have several different incentive levels. For example, offer a small free gift such as a key ring with purchases of ¤25.00 or more, and offer a more expensive gift such as an attractive promotional mug or mouse mat to go along with the key chain on larger orders. There is no limit to the types of items you can offer here, and you can even allow your customers to choose their own item—for example, give them the choice between a mug or mouse mat for their free gift.

  • Special Events

Items for special occasions—such as a gift for a client who places a very large order or signs an important contract, or a gift for a client or staff member who is celebrating an important occasion in their personal life—will typically be much more valuable than any other type of gift. A good bottle of wine, personalized with your company logo, an executive pen setArticle Search, or another such item can be a great gift on these occasions.
