The Power of Persuasion

Why is this so? Because I'm employing grandiose terms to make everything sound incredibly wonderful,Unmasking the Reality of Online Marketing Articles that's why! And for no other reason! I recently came across an article that blatantly stated that the reason all of the top marketers are so successful is because they make everything sound larger and better than it actually is. It's interesting to note that these top marketers also seem to catch a lot of big fish.

The Fisherman's Tale

Last weekend, I went fishing and caught a 47-pound largemouth bass using a piece of sour apple taffy on a barbless size 12 hook and sewing thread tied to the bumper of my car. That bass hit the taffy hard, so I accelerated the car and yanked that fish clean out of the water. As I saw it flying, I opened the trunk of the car, and as soon as I heard it land inside, I drove home and told my wife to heat up the frying pan!

Would you like to send me $29.95 now so I can teach you how to fish?

The Cost of Listening

Most people I know don't dispute old fishermen and their incredible stories, but listening to them doesn't cost anything either. Does anyone challenge the top marketers, though? No. Why? Because we all know they are making money. And how do we know that? Because they have made money from us!

The Allure of Wealth

Perhaps the prospect of becoming wealthy resonates more deeply with us than catching a large fish does, but what happens to our ability to detect the smell of a load of B.S. when it comes to reading marketing sales copy? Oh yes, we're all allergic to poverty and it blocks our noses so we can't smell.

The Reality of Marketing

Am I trying to belittle anyone here? No, not really. I mean, I love both fishing and online marketing. It's just that I've always made my points from the opposite perspective. If I tell you I caught a big fish, I'll back that up by getting it out of the freezer and inviting you over for dinner.

In reality, some of the top marketers do deliver what they promise. However, you need to be cautious, as there are plenty who don't. Understand that even though the sales copy is written to sound like their deepest desire is to help you, the true overall objective is to make sales. That's okay, that's what we're all trying to do. I like making money just as much as the next person. I'm just saying be sure you know exactly what you're going to get for your money before you spend it. Don't buy into something based on the hype of what it might do for you. Demand to know what it will do.

The Importance of Due Diligence

There are marketers who deliver on their promises and do their best to support their product or service. However, there are plenty who are too focused on making the next sale to follow up on yours. Make sure you're getting what you want before you buy. If you're unsure, ask questions. If they're unwilling to answer, it's likely their fish isn't as big as they claimed.

As for real fishermen, there's only been one who ever fed as many people with his fish as he claimed he could. That was Jesus, and he over-delivered. As far as I know, though, Jesus isn't involved in online marketing, so trust carefully.
