Ideas For Why You Should Choose A Winter Wedding

It won't surprise many people that June is amongst the most popular month for weddings, in fact summer just seems to monopolise, with July and August chipping in with their more than fair share (however October is deemed as the most popular non summer month). November and December are rising in popularity - so why would a bride choose a winter wedding?

One of the most popular reasons for choosing a winter wedding is simply because it is not June or October! Being different is most people's wish, so why not start with the date - Brides who choose a winter wedding are making a statement! They want to stand out from the crowd. They want their wedding to be remembered, not just by the family, but by all who attended (hoping that it will be the only wedding their guests attend that winter, unlike the previous 20 they all had to trot along to in summer...). Winter brides know just how to do that and there are many ways; from their choice of the season to the wide range of winter themed details that they can choose.
Starting with attire, a winter wedding offers a number of romantic options, especially if the location is prone to snow and clean, crisp air. A bride can choose an elegant, formal gown without worrying about fainting from heat exhaustion before the ceremony has even begun. A crushed velvet gown with long sleeves makes any bride look like a princess on her wedding day. For a truly elegant statement, the bride could choose a lovely, lined cape to wear over her dress. Depending on the timing of the wedding, the bride may find it appropriate to choose deep red or deep green for her bridesmaids, especially if their names are Holly and Ivy...
Winter themed decorations can add sparkle and shine throughout the reception hall and also create a festive feel that everyone can relate to. An ice sculpture also matches the season and always draws praise from the crowd; you also don't need to worry about any melting in transit at this time of year! Large silver bows are an elegant, festive, yet inexpensive decoration. Tied to the backs of the chairs, you can create a wonderful uniform look that matches the season. Artificial snow can lightly coat the tables in homage to the solstice. It will glimmer softly in the candlelight like diamonds, yet not break the bride’s budget.
Winter weddings are not for the faint of heart. The bride should be realistic about her expectations. Even though the Farmer’s Almanac may call for snow, there is no guarantee that the bride will be able to arrive at her reception in a horse-drawn sleigh (or reindeer drawn, as seen before by a wedding photographer in Norfolk). Of course, there is no guarantee that the weather will co-operate for travel plans either, so the bride should be prepared for a smaller-than-expected guest list if the weather turns ugly. Snow can be magical, yet rain rarely is when you need to take photographs, so do remember the risk.
However, for those brides who desire a winter wedding, these minor details will not matter. What will matter is the fact that she and her fiancé will have a truly memorable day, regardless of what Mother Nature decides.
