Woman's Guide - How to Stop a Divorce

Many women really do not know how to stop a divorce and actually end up pushing their husband further away. Learn some common errors woman make in trying to save their marriage and what to do instead.

Has your husband filed for divorce or is he about to? If you want to save your marriage you will need to know how to stop a divorce. Chances are that you have known for a while that the relationship was in trouble, but now it is down to the wire.

Maybe what you have been trying in the hopes of healing the relationship has actually been pushing him further away. Many people do not realize that some of the methods that seem the most natural to try are indicators of desperation that he will reject.

Let's talk about a few things most people try when they really do not know how to stop a divorce:

1) Reassurance of change. This is kind of a knee jerk reaction that should never be tried. The older we get, the less able we are to change. A wise husband will know that any attempts at change just to save the marriage will be very short term.

2) The "I love you" broken record. I probably do not have to explain this one, you know what I mean. Sometimes the more a person says "I love you" the more it indicates their desperation and inward doubt of the relationship's health. Men typically are not attracted to desperate women with emotional baggage, but rather self confident women comfortable with who they are.

3) Endless conversation. Some women try to engage their husband in self therapy where they endlessly analyze the relationship and what is wrong with it. In addition to flat out irritating their husband, they also put him on the defensive as if in a fight; with everything being his fault. Many times these "conversations" turn into just that - a fight.

Do not feel bad if you are among the many who have fallen into these failing methods of how to stop a divorce. You are definitely not alone. But you do need to "cease and desist" of all types of this counter productive activity.

Think about why the two of you were attracted to each other in the first place. Although you each probably put on your best "face" for a while, you each pretty much accepted the other as they were.

Not only that, but you were both willing to compromise. After time passes, the willingness to compromise seems to erode.

The good news is that if you start showing some signs of compromise that he notices, he will likely begin to reciprocate.

If there are things about yourself that you do not feel good about, develop a plan to begin working on those issues so you can see yourself in a more positive light. Your man will find that more attractive than an expensive makeover.

Write out a plan for your internal "makeover" and review it each morning and each night. Be sure also to review mentally what was mentioned above as you go about your day and aim for a gradual but steady improvement in your relationship.

If the divorce is imminentPsychology Articles, find out how you can buy yourself some time with a delay tactic and give your husband a chance to notice the changes coming about.
