Not sure of anyone else, but all my life I am constantly reminded from one day to the next about how important this is, how important that is, and whatever else is important for the next day, next week, next month, and next year. Being fairly sure that 99% of us are well aware of what is, and what is not, important! Enough is enough!

What happened to all of the fun things that are important,What's Really Important on a Warm Summer Evening Articles not only to our physical well-being, but also for our sanity?  Well, I have taken the bull by the horns, and listed some of what I believe are extremely important to us all on a warm summer evening.

How about inviting some good friends over, set some chairs up outside under a tree, and just having some great light conversation with each other over something cool to drink?  At the same time, all of you could play a good old fashioned game of checkers, and maybe even include some nice music in the background.

If you have children, and they are old enough, why not take them outside, spread a blanket out on the grass, and read a good book to them?  You could even tell them that there will be a short interruption every 20 or 30 minutes for a cookie and soda.  Maybe it would be a good time to teach them a song that they all would like.  If that isn't quality time with your children, I don't know what is.

If you are by yourself, why not set a table up outside, along with something to drink, and check out the stars.  If the stars don't interest you, maybe just sit real quiet and listen to the sounds of the night.
Or you might wish to listen to some soft mood music.  Am not sure why, but everything just seem to sound a lot better when I am outside...although I'm sure it has something to do with nature.

If there happens to be some open fields nearby, you will find yourself in a sort of wonderland watching all of the lightning bugs flickering on all off.  If no open fields are nearby, I can tell you that it is well worth driving out to the countryside to watch the display --- for it will not only light up your life, it will also lighten-up your life.

Do you enjoy camping out?  If so, then there is nothing in this world more peaceful than camping out on a desert where you can not only watch the stars, but can also tell stories around a campfire, roast marshmallows, or anything else that comes to mind.  And if a desert isn't to your liking, I assure that camping out in the mountains is just as wonderful.

And I don't believe anyone in this world wouldn't enjoy a nice, peaceful moonlight swim.

Even though I was told I couldn't be on the beaches at night when I lived in Florida, I went there well  over 100 times.  I had the entire beach to myself, and could sometimes read by the moonlight, and/or listen to the waves.  I loved it!  You may not live near an ocean, but a creek, lake, or river is just as good.

I know of dozens of other things to do on a warm summer evening, but do not have the room to list them all here. However, I wanted to list a few because these are the types of activities that allow us to be a little closer to nature...and at least for me, the closer to nature I am, the more peaceful I seem to become, and that results in much less stress,  a lot clearer thinking, which in turn transforms me into a much happier human being.

As usual, whatever you do, be sure you always do it safely.
