Traffic is the oxygen of any website. The internet would
cease to exist without any traffic. Your website may have
the best content, but without traffic it is as good as
dead. No purpose is solved in having a website which does
not have traffic.

There are many ways and means to get traffic to your
website. They range from search engines to classified ads
to reciprocal linking to opt-in emails to ezines and so on.
Some ways are better than others. Different methods work
for different websites.

The world of traffic has been seeing a different trend
in the recent times, and that is of guaranteed hits
systems. Though a few such systems were around much
earlier, it is in the recent times that the fashion has
caught on and several such networks have sprung up.

What are these guaranteed hits systems and what can they do
for you? The underlying principle in these systems is
similar to a banner exchange, though in a banner exchange
you exchange banner impressions, here you exchange complete
pageviews of your website.

Basically there are three types of such systems:

(1) PopUnder/PopOver/Exit/Entry:
The most popular exchange systems in this category are
popunder and exit.

This is how it works. Upon signing up, you are given a
special code which you need to install into one or more
pages of your website.

For a popunder system, when a visitor enters your website,
a window opens in the background (popunder window) which
displays some other member's url.

For a exit system, a window opens when your visitor leaves
your website (exit window) and this window displays some
other member's url.

What happens here is you have 'shown' someone else's url
and later someone else will 'show' your url.

To use this type of system, you must have your own webpage
or a website as the code has to be installed.

(2) Startpage:
This is easy to use and there is no code to install in your
website, though upon signing up, you will need to set a
special startpage url as your browser homepage.

Once this is done, whenever you open your browser, you will
be redirected to some member's url. Other members will view
your url similarly.

To use this type of system, you need not have your own
webpage or a website as there is no code to be installed.

(3) Surf for Hits:
This is the easiest to use and there is no code or url to
install/set anywhere.

Upon signing up, all you need to do is start visiting other
members' websites through the system itself. Other members
will visit your website similarly.

Usually the minimum required time period of a visit is 20
seconds though some networks require as less as 10 seconds
and some require over 30 seconds. My personal opinion is,
anything between 20 - 30 seconds is good and reasonable.

To use this type of system, you need not have your own
webpage or a website as there is no code to be installed.

You must keep these things in mind before and while using
these kinds of systems. As soon as a visitor arrives at
your website, you just have a few seconds in which to
present your product/service to that visitor. Your website
must have a proper content and layout to get the visitor
interested in seeing more of it.

Also, do remember to make your webpage fast loading. One
way to achieve this is to cut down on unnecessary
graphics/banners. Use text links instead.

The proper use of such systems can bring instant traffic to
your website and thus help in kick starting it.
