For those of you who do not know,Power of Propeller to Build Traffic Articles propeller.com is a website open to the public - joining is free and there are no minimum requirements for participating - where you can post articles about - well - anything.

In these hard economic times, many people are looking to second jobs - and even new jobs - as a way of making ends meet. A first step in that is setting up a website, and then generating traffic to that site. The question is: how to do that? If you have enough money, then buying some ads or hiring a consultant is easy enough; on the other hand, if money is tight, posting some articles on a site like propeller is an excellent alternative. As Propeller is connected with AOL (America Online), it gets a lot of traffic, which is ideal for launching a new company.

On the site, there are several tabs. First off, there is the Submit Tab; as its name implies, this is where you submit an article for consideration. Next, there are three tabs that are excellent for getting you exposure. First, the Just In Tab gives you a listing of the articles that have recently been posted, and the Front Page Tab lists the most popular ones. There you can read what others have posted and vote on them - thus raising or lowering their ranking. Also, the Front Page does not just give the most popular articles of right now, but there are buttons to see what is popular today and even this week. Finally, there is also a Categories Tab; thus you can post - and find - articles on specific subjects.

Now, there are some things to remember, and be wary of. You need to make sure your articles are informative - not just ads for your site because they will be seen as spam. Also, try to post some articles every once in a while - every week is best - and do them on a variety of subjects. You want people on the site to trust you; so by doing honest articles and not merely harping on yourself and your website/company, you can build up a following among the members. Propeller also has a blog; so by posting on it too, you can further network with people. Sometimes just that can help you to build clients on your site. If you are a plumber, getting to know other types of contractors can be an excellent way to set up links between all of your websites, and thus get more traffic to yours.

Another drawback to the site is that anyone can vote on any article - either boost its ranking or drop it - and do it anonymously. So, this means a larger company can either artificially boost its ranking by paying people to vote for its articles and/or knock down the articles posted by or about rival companies.
