Work is stressful enough without feeling uncomfortably warm. If you are suffering from temps that push you to or past the limit of sweat,3 Ways to Stay Cool at Work Articles then it is time to make some changes. Here are 3 ways to stay cool when you are at the office:

1.  Use natural sunlight- A big problem with many offices is that often times a lot of the lights that are used will give off heat and make the room warmer than it should be. If you have a lamp next to your desk you should avoid turning it on as it could have a direct affect on how hot you feel. Your best bet is to go with natural light from outside if you can (when you have a North or South facing office). If you happen to have a West facing office then you may need to close the blinds in the afternoon or the sun can make things worse than the lights would.

2.  Get yourself a fan- One of the best ways to stay cool when you are at work is to turn on the fan. Most offices will have overhead fans and if you are feeling warm then it is time to turn it on. If there are multiple people in the office then you should check without your coworkers before turning it on so that you don’t make them feel uncomfortable. If they are feeling a bit cold, then it is time to get yourself a personal fan. You can either get a tall narrow fan that you can place on the ground to keep you cool or look for an even smaller one that will fit on your desk. Even though the fan won’t be able to lower the temperature of the room, it can make you feel much more comfortable because of the wind chill. The best part is that small fans are pretty inexpensive so it won’t cost you much to cool down.

3.  Take off your shoes if you can- While you may not be able to keep your shoes off all day long at work, there is a good chance that you can remove them while you are at your desk. When you are feeling a tad too warm, just slip off your shoes and let things air out for a minute. There is a lot of heat that builds up in your shoes and taking them off for a couple minutes can help you to feel much cooler overall. Sure it sounds a bit silly but don’t knock it until you try it.

Again there is no reason why you should have to sweat when you are at work from being too hot. Follow the steps above and make your office a more comfortable place to work.
