A condo rental can be a great way for you or your family to enjoy a vacation away from home, but only if you know to make sure that the one you chose is able to meet all of your needs.

The first thing to make sure you are clear on is not only the number of guests a particular condo rental sleeps, but also how many people it may allow to stay there at one time. A certain unit with two queen beds and a sleep sofa could list an occupancy of six people, but you may feel comfortable bringing air mattresses and sleeping eight. However if the rules of the particular unit state that no more than the maximum occupancy of six are allowed to stay at one time, you would be in violation and potentially set yourself up to be evicted from the property.

Equally important can be pet restrictions. A condo rental can allow or outlaw pets altogether or place more specific regulations on them. This can include only allowing a single pet or up to a certain number of pets, or only allowing certain types, breeds or sizes. Because many condos are typically part of an association, rules regarding pets are typically very strict and should be treated as such.

Parking can also be a sticky situation at various condos. Make sure to look into whether a unit includes a dedicated parking space, and if applicable how many. If you plan to arrive in multiple vehicles, can they all be accommodated at the property, and if not is there anywhere to park nearby?

Finally, check in and checkout times can be extremely important. If you must arrive at a certain time and have a vehicle full of your belongings, you probably don’t want to have to kill time doing something that involves leaving your vehicle unattended. Likewise, you don’t want to have to leave before you are able to round up everyone and return home, so knowing when doing each is allowable is important to note.

When all of these details work out, a condo rental can be a fantastic investment that can lead to an extremely enjoyable and productive vacation. Just make sure you’re getting everything you hope to out of your investment.
