Charity Giving – Falling in Recent Years

Charity giving is suffering huge decreases over the last few years. See how charities desperately need your help, and learn how you can do so without spending an extra cent.

It’s no surprise that many charity organizations around the country are experiencing a major decline in outside giving. The current financial and housing crisis is causing many donors to pull their funding, despite their wishes to support their favorite charity.

The $1.9 trillion nonprofit industry is suffering charity giving losses in the billions each year. With over one million new organizations claiming nonprofit 501©3 status each year, this would prove to be a major problem. With that many new nonprofit organizations coming into an industry where giving is in a major decline, it’s clear that many of these organizations are destined to fail.

Despite much charity organization’s attempt to keep close ties to their biggest donors and support charity giving, many donors are finding it hard to donate to their favorite charity. Despite success that many may find in the business world, or in whatever industry they work in, one thing is apparent – that nobody has as much money as they used to.

As charity giving continues to fall, more and more organizations are being forced to discontinue their charitable efforts in the community and around the world. This is a sad truth that the large majority of organizations are feeling around the world, which many who benefit from their work of charities are also feeling.

With so much weighing down, it’s clear that unless something substantial happens, we may be seeing quite a few failing nonprofit organizations over the next few years. Least of all, there will be a large downsizing in nonprofit businesses, as donations are required to cover all expenses including employee wages. What really draws the attention of people is that nonprofit organizations employ over 10% of the workforce in America.

If the economic times aren’t on an upswing soon or donors can find another way to support their favorite charity, it’s clear that our country may be facing bigger troubles than the housing crisis.
