It is a matter of sorrow that,Different Types of Bearings Articles there are many people who don’t know what the perfect type of bearing is to satisfy their particular requirements. Here in this article, I will discuss about some of the major types of bearings. I hope this will be helpful for you.

  1. Ball Bearing: Ball bearings are the most common type of bearings. They are mostly used for any sort of mechanical works. These types of bearings have to capability to control both thrust and radial loads. But, remember, they cannot handle mass weight. Ball bearings can be further classified as three different types of ball bearings such as Roller Thrust Bearing, Thrust Ball Bearing, Linear Ball Bearing, Metric Ball Bearing and so on.

  1. Ball Thrust Bearing: Ball Thrust Bearing bears almost all the characteristics of Ball Bearing. They are designed to control almost exclusively thrust loads. They are generally used in low speed and low weight applications. People who don’t have much mechanical knowledge can easily work with these types of bearings as they are very easy to be handled.

  1. Roller Thrust Bearing: Roller Thrust Bearings are very effective types of bearings. Like the ball thrust bearings, these bearings have the ability of the thrust load handler. But, this bearing is more powerful than that of Ball Bearings and Ball Thrust Bearings. It can be easily dealt with heavy loads. They are highly used in car transmissions to support gears. This is one of the most popular and effective applications of Roller Thrust Bearings.

  1. Roller Bearing: These bearings are used in heavy loads as they have the capability to do so. Roller Bearings work like a cylinder which means, the heavy load is shared over a bigger is, ensuring the bearing to control huge amounts of load. These bearings are perfect for radial loads. They are not suitable for Thrust loads.

  1. Slewing Bearing: Slewing bearings are rolling element bearing which holds up heavy but slow turning loads. Slewing bearings are bit thing than that of other type of roller bearings. These bearings bear a resemblance to aircraft handling surface bearings. Two distinctive rows of rolling items are used by Slewing Bearings.

  1. Sliding Bearing: Sliding bearings are also highly used in heavy industrial and mechanical purposes. These bearings are very effective and supportive in controlling heavy loads. To work with these bearings, you need to have expertise with machineries. It requires very careful handling to get the best result from these bearings.

  1. Special Bearing: I have mentioned earlier that, different types of bearings are used in different purposes. But, there are some tasks that require customized bearings. The manufacturers of bearings are often ordered to make special bearings for particular purposes. These bearings are refereed as Special Bearings. Giant Roller Bearings and Magnetic Bearings are the two most common examples of Special Bearings.

  1. Tapered Roller Bearing: Tapered Roller Bearings are very helpful in handling both thrust loads and radial loads. They are highly used in car hubs. The automobile manufactures often require Tapered Roller Bearing for different purposes. So, these bearings have huge demand in the market for the very development of the automobile industry.

Now, you all have some basic knowledge regarding the type of bearings. From the very next time, buy the best suited bearing for your particular purposes. Don’t waste money buying something useless. It will be very tough for you to remember all the names and their uses. So, just read about them one more time just before purchasing any bearing.
