The founder of Antler luggage, J. B. Brooks got the notion to invent a saddle seat for his safety bicycle in 1870’s for his transporting business, after the passing of his horse that used to pull a wagon. Antler luggage started first with this invention of the Brooks saddle. It was not until 1920 when his son invented leather wardrobe suitcases for traveling on ocean liners. Webbing came into the line of products during the World Wars. Production lines were retooled to churn out haversacks, webbing belts and other military equipment. Once the wars were won, the times changed to accept the introduction of the soft-sided bag for travel.

With the dawn of the airplane in the 1950s tourism also took off. There were travellers who needed to carry their personal belongings for overnight and extended stays in durable but stylish accoutrements. Antler saw an opportunity to fit the needs of the masses that would be traveling the world by air. Their first design for flyers with baggage was called the ‘Airstream.’ The combination of hard and soft materials in one bag became very popular. The popularity of these types of travel bags made it necessary for Antler to expand its manufacturing forces from one plant in the Midlands to Northern Manchester, Mossley, Littleborough and Exeter.

Not resting on its laurels, Antler continued to create new travel baggage products out of hard shell materials and from leather as well. In the tradition of leading the way, a new innovation emerged with the rolling case design that has become a solid requirement in any travel bag to this day. All Antler bags have to pass strict durability, quality and construction tests and are sold with a customer service backed 10 year warranty.
