Do you want to raise a Pygmy Marmoset? They are adorable and unique but keep in mind that raising and keeping them can be an extremely difficult task. They need to be fed every two hours for up to two weeks as a baby. They are known to bite their owners, to attack and to throw feces. But if after hearing all of that you still want to try your hand at raising one then here are some instructions to help you do just that.

First things first, you need to get a special permit, which is difficult to get and varies for state and country.  Second, you have to guarantee that there is a special type of primate veterinarian in your area, which is not an exotic animal veterinarian but a special type of primate specialist. You will be able to keep it as a pet if you do your research carefully.

They have claw-like nails and elongated sharp incisors. They use their sharp lower teeth to gouge holes into trees and then gorge on the gum, sap, resin, or latex that is exuded. They spend most of their time doing this. They can forage in the crown foliage of trees up to 15meters off the ground;  looking in vine tangles and vegetation for butterflies, beetles, moths and spiders.

You will have to pay close attention to their diet. They rely mainly on saps and gums called exudates from vines and trees in the wild. They are an important source of calcium, carbohydrates, and protein. They are omnivorous creatures and they will eat arthropods as well as small quantities of fruits and other plant parts.  They are also known to eat insects, especially grasshoppers, and even small reptiles.

They can live in many high up places in the rainforest and are highly adaptable. They can hide in true foliage when predators come near. The biggest threat to them is humans cutting down trees, their homes. If we do not conserve our rainforestFeature Articles, they are likely to disappear off the face of the earth. So let's protect this sweet little elf.
