Sometimes, we may not care for our pets exactly the way we should.  There is no better time to change that situation than New Year's.  Therefore, make your 2012 resolution about the wellness of your pet.

It is vital for our pets to get enough exercise.  This helps avoid obesity and health problems which have a higher risk of developing in obese pets.  Make a commitment to walk or jog with your dog on a regular basis.  Cat owners need to provide activities inside to encourage play.

No matter if you have a dog or a cat you will need to feed your pet on a daily basis.  It is in your best interests to feed your pet a balanced diet to ensure maximum health.  Do not just buy the cheapest thing you find at the supermarket.  Pay attention to the type of food you are feeding your pet from now on.

A combination of a bad diet and lack of exercise is particularly dangerous.  This can easily bring about obesity, arthritis, and other problems.  Responsible owners should definitely resolve to prevent this from happening with their beloved pets.

Carrying extra weight will place an increased demand on your pet's body.  Organs like the heart and lungs will have to work harder.  Pets will suffer from decreased stamina as a result, and commonly have much harder time breathing.  Joint damage is also common, which is why obese pets commonly develop arthritis.

Many owners forget about cleaning their pet's teeth.  Dogs and cats should have their teeth cleaned on a daily basis.  At the very least, you should do so every couple of days.  Failure to practice proper dental hygiene can bring on a range of problems, so caring for teeth should be on your short list as far as New Year's resolutions go.

Also, consider making a resolution to groom your pet properly.  Although they do a good job of it themselves pet owners have to step in every so often.  Pets which are particularly active should be groomed on a more frequent basis.

Grooming also includes trimming nails, especially for cats.  Make sure you are careful when doing it yourself.  If you do not pay attention to what you are doing, you can cause a great deal of pain to your pet.

The wellness of your pet should be one of the most important things on your mind.  ThereforeBusiness Management Articles, make your 2012 resolution all about your pet's wellness.
