Fundraising Success at America’s Family Pet Expo

During the America’s Family Pet Expo, held in Orange County, California, and Puyallup, Washington, the Pet Care Trust set up engaging activities to raise funds. Raffle for a Cause

In addition to the Betta Fish Toss, a raffle was organized at the Puyallup event. The prize, a 75-gallon bow front aquarium donated by Central Pet, attracted many participants. The Impact of Classroom Pets

Since its inception in 2009, the Pets in the Classroom program has been a beacon of educational innovation. In 2010 alone, 2,066 grants were awarded to teachers. The program's ambitious goal is to reach 30,000 classrooms, impacting over one million children. The presence of pets in educational settings has been linked to numerous benefits, including improved school attendance, increased responsibility, and enhanced self-esteem among students. Studies have consistently shown the positive effects that caring for pets can have on children's development.

Grant Opportunities for Educators

Recognizing the financial constraints often faced by educators, the Pet Care Trust has streamlined the grant application process. By visiting www.petsintheclassroom.org, teachers can apply for grants ranging from $50 for existing classroom pets to $100-$150 for acquiring new pets and necessary equipment. This initiative ensures that more teachers can provide their students with the invaluable experience of caring for a pet.

In conclusion, the concerted efforts of the pet industry to promote proper pet care among today's youth are not only commendable but also essential. By supporting programs like Pets in the Classroom, businesses and organizations are investing in a future where the human-animal bond is cherished and nurtured from an early age.
