Many homeowners take some action in order to keep rodents out of their homes. If you plan to use bait it is important for you to place the bait in the right locations. Failure to do so will render them much less effective in decreasing the rodent population in your home.

Before you place bait it is best for you to try to observe the rodents in your home. By witnessing their activity you will have a better idea where to place your bait. It is best for you to place the bait in a location where the rodents will accidentally stumble upon them during their daily routine.

You should locate their favorite places to hide as well as where they are getting their food. You need to place the bait between their home and food source. They will likely be tempted to take the bait so they do not need to travel as far for food.

One of the best places to place baits is along the walls and baseboards of the room. If you notice areas where there is a large concentration of their droppings, you should definitely place bait there.

There are also plenty of other places where you should place bait. Since rodents need a source of water, you should place some beneath sinks in your kitchen and bathroom. They frequently make their way behind appliances, so placing bait behind your refrigerator and washing machine is also a good idea.

It is best for you to not just put down bait though. You should get rid of their other sources of food so they will have no other choice but to take the bait. The bait you use should be fresh too. They will try to avoid food that is too moldy or old.

It is also important to note these small creatures are typically afraid of new things. This means they will not just go up to your bait as soon as they see it. Before baiting the area you should leave a small amount of food there instead. Once they get used to it, you should set the bait and trap since they will be more comfortable. Once you have chosen a location and set the bait do not change it in the future. This will make them uncomfortable and the rodents will avoid the bait.

Using bait is a good way to keep rodents under control. Just make sure you put bait in the right location. If you do not then the bait will not be nearly as effective.
