Don’t feel like you’re disturbing or disrupting services because most everyone likes to see a beautiful newborn introduced to their church. Many congregations are like extended families and if you’re planning on having an ongoing relationship with the church members, a Sunday morning church service is the best time to baptize your child. No one will mind – in fact, they’ll appreciate the break.
Infant baptism invitations are absolutely crucial if you haven’t gone to church in ages or you want to host it at some other time than when church is going on. You might want to host it at the church late at night and bring lots of food for a banquet of sorts. That way, you can devote more time to getting to know the church and honoring your child.
Before sending out baptism invitations, you need to confirm a time for the baptism. If you convince your pastor that you really want your child baptized because you want to see this as the first step in his spiritual journey, you will find an enthusiastic pastor to host the baptism. If you’re not committed, he could be concerned about your motives. Perhaps it’s just for show or going through motions. Either way, work out a good relationship with your pastor so that the event will be a good, psychologically sound time for all.
Then, you can feel comfortable sending out baptism invitations.
