Have you ever wondered how to choose a search engine optimisation company? This is one of the questions that I get asked frequently by real business owners when I meet them at business conferences and trade shows.

How do you know the difference between a good guy and the bad guys when choosing an SEO firm? The first thing that I like to tell people is that no one is endorsed by, sponsored by or even certified by Google. What I find that a lot of search engine optimisation companies will do, is that they will put various logos on their website for that of Google, Yahoo or Twitter for instance. Their intention is to create the impression that they are working with those companies when in fact they are not.

Google does not certify any search engine optimisation company and you can check their own terms and policies if you wish, they just do not endorse anybody. And this really is the first thing that you should be looking at. If someone is trying to deceive you in that they are working with Google directly or that they have a back door relationship with Google, this is a bad sign of a bad guy that you do not want to work with or an SEO company that you want to avoid at all costs.

Another thing that you need to be careful about, are those companies that are not clear about that they are doing. So you will find that there are some companies that will just claim t have a very special approach and if they told you what that was, they would be giving away their secrets and you would be able to do it yourself.

The reality is, when it comes to search engine optimisation, there are no secrets. In fact the people in the companies that do SEO Oldham the best are very clear indeed about what they do. And this is because you can very easily find out what the methods are when it comes to optimising your web pages and how to do off page optimisation, very easily. There is no rocket science when it comes to search engine optimisation.

So understanding these kind of thing, if you are looking at a company and they are just giving you pricing and maybe they are offering some type of result as opposed to content creation, which is of value to your potential traffic levels, then they are not the type of company you want to be working with.

If you look at Google webmaster tools; one of the things that they tell you, when working with an SEO company, is to be looking for somebody who is creating good content for customers. Those are the type of companies that you want to be working with and not those that make empty promises.
