Sexual problems in either sex can be devastating as they may cause problems in a couple’s sexual life. Although, these sexual problem can easily be treated, most men do not go to a doctor or talk about it openly. Therefore, knowing about the sexual problems in men can help them deal with it better.

Erectile Dysfunction:- Impotence or erectile dysfunction is the inability of the penis to erect or sustain long enough for an intercourse. Erectile dysfunction may be caused due to psychological and physical reasons. One of the physical causes of erectile dysfunction may be Peyroine’s disease that leaves a scar tissue in the penis. Some psychological causes of erectile dysfunction include depression, performance nervousness or anxiety, stress etc.

Ejaculation Disorders

Some ejaculation disorders include:-

* Premature ejaculation:- This is when ejaculation occurs prematurely i.e. before or soon after penetration.

* Inhibited ejaculation:- This is when ejaculation comes too slowly.

* Retrograde ejaculation:- This is when the semen goes back in to the bladder upon ejaculation instead of coming out through the urethra and out of the penis.

Of the three ejaculations related sex problems, one of the most commonly occurring sex problems is premature ejaculation. Premature ejaculation or inhibited ejaculation is caused when the man does not find his partner attractive, has been through traumatic stress or is bound by religious taboo when it comes to sex. Retrograde ejaculation is common in men, who suffer from diabetic neuropathy. It may also occur in patients of prostrate or bladder operation.

Inhibited Sexual Desire:- True to its name, inhibited sexual desire is the decreased interest in sexual activity. This sex problem is also called loss of libido, which may result from depression, medical illness, diabetes, high blood pressure, relationship issues and side-effects of medications.

Sex Problems in Men Treatment:- Several sex problems in men can be treated by watching out for the psychological and physical cause of the problem. The treatment of sex problems include:-

Medical Treatment:- This involves treatment of the underlying medical condition that is causing sex problems.

Psychological Therapy:- This is given by a trained counselor, who helps a person resolve issues of anxiety, fear, guilt etc.

Supplementing Hormones:- Men with low testosterone levels may benefit from testosterone replacement therapy.

Mechanical Aids:- Vacuum devices and penile implants help men with erectile dysfunction.

Communication and Education:- A man can education himself about the sex and sexual behaviours and therefore, overcome fears and insecurities. Talking to your partner about what she needs may help you be better at sex.
