People will be, in need, when their survival becomes little or totally unbalanced.
Unbalanced in the sense, when the comfortable routines gets disturbed and basic necessities deprived. In those trying times their physical and mental strength will keep them ‘floating’, but only an helping hand from those involved in community services could pull them to safe ‘quarters’. En masse of people will normally be in need, when a natural disaster strikes. It happened during hurricane Katrina and in Tsunami in South Asia. In these scenarios only, schools should organize the students to do community services for those who may have lost their loved ones, their homes and their livelihoods. Services for them could include comforting the agitated minds, rebuilding their house, work, and in total, their life. Schools could arrange visits for the students to these places if they consider the places to be safe and after taking enough precautions like immunization for communicable diseases for students. But as these natural disasters does not occur frequently -- that what we wish greatly- students can otherwise help the general people in the time they have.
In developed countries in most cases the communities are well equipped and independent. But there will be some ‘weak spots’ in developed countries as well and it is up to the students to carry out these community services as well.
Students in schools will be in their primes, so they can use every ounce of physical and mental energy and it is up to the schools to fully tap the energy and use it in a constructive way like community services. As we may know community is a group of people and there will be students in it as well, so if a student encouraged by his/her school does services for his/her community or any other community he/she will be developing himself/ herself, his/ her community or other’s community, his/her town, city, state, country and whole world. So, it would be worthwhile for the schools to encourage student community services.
