Friends are very important for your good mental health. They make you laugh,Isolating oneself From Friends Hampers Happiness Articles encourage you and be with you wherever a need arises. Without them, you become isolated and depressed. This leads to stress, anxiety and eventually to bad choices.

Some people turn to alcohol to relieve feelings of isolation while others turn to harder drugs. Unfortunately, these bad habits only make the isolation much worse. It is important to develop control over your feelings so that you are able to cultivate your sense of social self and make friends easily. To do that, you need to learn how to keep yourself from becoming isolated.

Isolating yourself and your problems is not a good thing because suppressing your problems keeps you from seeking the answers you need in order to solve them. However, in some instances, isolating problems helps us pinpoint the issues we need to deal with. As problems come in life as they always do, it is best to cut them off before they grow to uncontrollable levels. We can nip them in the bud by taking action and staying focused.

When we identify our problems, it moves us closer to self discovery. And, when we connect with our friends, it helps foster our relationship with ourselves as well. When you have strength of mind and have developed your own sense of self, then you are able to hold your ground and resist the temptation to follow them.

This is not always easily done. Temptation has a way of catching you unaware. You need to learn how to expand your awareness and your consciousness so that you can stay strong and alert for potential problems. This enables you to cut them off before they hurt you. Notice how different isolating yourself from friends is from isolating your problems. When you isolate yourself from your friends, you suffer at home, school or at work. You become lonely, depressed and feel left out. However, when you isolate your problems, you take charge of your mental plane and your life.

We all need the love and support from friends to be happy. Alfred Adler in his book What Life Should Mean to You says, “It is the individual who is not interested in his fellow men who has the greatest difficulties in life…”
