British Motorsport has enjoyed something of a renaissance in recent years with UK drivers regularly at the head of starting grids in the various forms of the sport across the world. With it's popularity on incline, attendances at Britain's racetracks continues to grow. Here are some of the best circuits for you aspiring petrol-heads.

Goodwood is one of Britain's more iconic racetracks. Hosting it's first circuit race in 1948, it has become one of the nation's favourites. In 2008 the track was fully restored and attracts an average of over 100,000 fans to the course a year. Based in Chichester in West Sussex, it's just a short drive from Brighton, which of course is served by dozens of hotels and places to eat for weekend-long events.

Brands Hatch is a world famous track, one of Europe's busiest, it hosts some of the championships in world motor-sport. Everything from the World Touring Car Championships to World Superbikes and DTM Championships can be found at Brands Hatch. It offers the archetypal British-style racetrack and is easily reached from London terminals Waterloo and Victoria stations.

Rockingham was completed in 2001 and was the first purpose built circuit to be competed in almost 90 years. It has the proud boast to be Europe's fastest banked oval, similar to the American NASCA-style track. Located in corby, there are plenty of hotels near Rockingham raceway for those who want to soak up the pre-race qualifiers. Corby also has a newly opened train station nearby for those who want to leave the car at home.

Lydden Hill offers something a bit more rough and ready for those of you looking for something different. It's the regular venue for the European Rallycross championships, drawing huge crowds crowds. There were plans afoot to convert this track into a F1 track, but these proposals have been scrapped to maintain Lydden's Rally traditions. Nearby Canterbury offers accommodation, although can be quite small and pricey more suited to sightseers. HoweverFeature Articles, a short drive over the Essex border and you'll find a range of Braintree hotels serviceable for all tastes and pockets. The course is also easily reached by trains leaving London Embankment station.
