To keep your motorcycle on top condition, it must be cleaned. However, before you can proceed to the process of cleaning, it is very important to get familiar with the different parts of the bike that need cleaning and the right materials to use for cleaning.

Windshield - When your motorcycle has a windshield, then you need to wipe it regularly in order to see beyond the glass. Windshield is installed for protection against the rain, wind and dust therefore it is one of the dirtiest parts of the motorcycle.

Body or chrome - to keep your motorcycle looking good as new, then you maintain the shine of its chrome. Polish it with a chrome polish solution until it looks shiny and clean.

Seat/saddle – keep your saddle seat clean. You can wipe it with a clean cloth because the leather on this part of a motorcycle is very sensitive to solutions or harmful chemicals.

Lights – Dirt or mud may stick on your backlights. To make you visible towards other drivers, wipe away the dirt that accumulates on your lights. Take note that visibility is very important therefore you need to keep your lights bright especially at night.

Chain – It is very important to get rid of mud, dirt or other particles that that accumulate on the chain of your motorcycle. When dirt, mud and rust accumulate on this part, it may get stuck or break.

Swing arm and Exhaust Pipe – These parts need special treatment. Use a clean rag to remove the soot and tars that accumulate on these parts.

Wheels – this is the hardest part of the bike to clean. Use a long brush to remove brake dust and grime. Apply a wheel cleaner and then wait for awhile. Next, scrub the excess soot off then wipe it down.

These are the most common parts of motorcycles you need to clean. However, before you start cleaning your motorcycle, you must prepare the different materials you are going to use in the cleaning process. What you are going to need are:

·         A bucket of soapy water.

·         soft, clean cloths

·         sponge

·         Wheel cleaner.

·         Soap or liquid detergent.

·         Gloves.

·         Motorcycle cleaning solution

·         Brush for wheel cleaning.

·         Degreaser or engine cleaner.

These are the things you need to know when cleaning your motorcycle. Remember to use the right cleaning materials and to clean the right parts properly.
