Like me and many others in the UK you're probably growing weary with the cold windy days, dull grey and raining! Is the thought of escaping to somewhere with a much warmer climate and enjoying some quality scuba diving becoming very tempting? Well what are you waiting for?
January to April is a perfect time to visit a number of long haul destinations such as the Caribbean for example. Mexico Cozumel has some fantastic diving on offer and at this time of year you're likely to be able to secure a great deal as well. Cozumel's waters are host to some of the most amazing marine life and the visibility is fantastic. However diving in Mexico is best known because of the opportunity to dive in the naturally formed Cenotes. Cenotes are surface connections to subterranean water bodies. While the most well known cenotes are large open water pools measuring tens of meters in diameter, such as those at Chichén Itzá, the greatest number of cenotes are smaller sheltered sites and do not necessarily have any surface exposed water.
If book your holiday between February 23rd - 28th you'll also have the opportunity to experience the Mexican carnival. This is similar to New Orleans Mardi Gras, with parades of masked dancers and marching bands.
We've got a good few months left until Spring, so why not take the opportunity to escape the UK, dive some new sites, and get that all important tan, ready to gloat when you get back home.

Diving the Thistlegorm
Often referred to as one of the worlds top 10 dives, I feel very privileged to have experienced this unique piece of history which has resided at the bottom of the ocean for over 60 years. The Thistlegorm was sunk by German bombers during the Second World War in the Red Sea whilst on route to deliver supplies to the 8th Army.Diving in the Maldives - The Victory
Some of the best dives I have ever experienced have been in the Maldives, and the Victory wreck was a fantastic dive. Whilst not quite as famous or grand as the Thistlegorm, the Victory is still a beautiful wreck, lots of marine life, with hard and soft corals now well established on it.Diving In Thailand - Koh Samui
Koh Samui is Thailand's third largest island. It is still covered with coconut trees, jungle and rugged rocks of granite sloping into the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Siam. Samui measures 21km in its length and is 25km wide.
