Who would have thought that the company Nivea and football would be such a perfect match? They have proved to be a match made in heaven, though, as the company has done fantastically well with its Great Football Experiment.
The company originally saw an opportunity to
market itself to football fans, but the Great Football Experiment has been
about much more than just marketing. It has been about fulfilling dreams and
about proving a larger point. That point is that with the proper type and
amount of preparation, almost anything is possible.
So what have Nivea done in this instance? They have teamed up with famous
football coaches Ray Wilkins and Terry Venables to provide one lucky team with
an awesome opportunity. After all of the applications from Sunday League
football clubs were in, a lucky Essex club was chosen as the eventual
"winner" of the contest. That club was Ivory, F.C. and it was full of
average amateur footballers. The goal for Nivea and company was to transform
these players into something more than they were at the beginning. Though it
might have seemed tough or unlikely, the goal was to turn these footballers
into a side that could take down a team of English legends.
That is where the Great Football Experiment headed. The goal was for Wilkins
and Venables, along with other coaches, to take Ivory and turn them into a
force. The training was to be extensive. Many months of physical conditioning
and skills training were heaped upon Ivory. If the experiment were to work, it
would show that the right preparation really is everything. Ivory worked hard
under their coaches and tried their best to come out on top. The culmination
came in a 2-1 victory over the English football legends. Ivory, a Sunday League
team of rag-tag players, were able to take down a respected club of actual
legends.
Nivea football
might not seem like a perfect match, but in this experiment, they were a match
made right in heaven. Those who participated in the Great Football Experiment
can attest to its great success.
