Coaching is an indispensable skill in any sport. Keeping a positive stand on your belief as coach would define your success in the field. Your firm conviction will also help you to deal with problems regarding your players’ parents, schedule, illness or injuries, and even some personal matters like finances and love life.Practice Planning. A coach should be able to conceptualize a program for developing the skills of the players. He should ensure that the team undergoes a training that will not only build camaraderie among the team but also the skills necessary for your players to succeed. Remember that coaching is a process of bringing out the best from your team.Establish a friendly atmosphere. Coaching is not merely about letting your players follow the your that you say. It is more about considering you their older brother with respect and following your advices because they understand that it is what’s best for them. An activity or practice with your team will not be meaningful and worthwhile if you will not establish a relationship with each other. Build a friendly environment and respect for every member of the group.Take the lead. You should not like be a barking dog. Take into account you own actions. You should mean what you say. And make sure your actions show what your words mean. Actions always speak louder than words. You may not always tell them what to do but your actions are enough examples for them to follow.Be wholehearted and optimistic. Mistakes are inevitable to anyone. In one way or another, you and your team players might commit mistakes. When this happens, you be reminded of your role as a coach – to direct your team to progress and develop. Instead of using negative words, use suggestive speeches. Don’t blame or scold them immediately. A person slow to anger is an honorable man. This action and attitude will also encourage your team to do the same.Develop norms. As your team develops teamwork, it is also necessary to build solidarity. Create activities that will bring you closer together like weekend picnics, trips, and other programs.Being a good player does not guarantee a good coach. Even if you are inexperienced, you can still lead your team very well. Coaching is more about developing people and bringing them together, cultivating strengths and turning weaknesses into potentials, and teaching others through your actions and thoughts.
