If you are considering starting out in the world of MMA (Mixed martial Arts) but don’t know how to go about it then here are a few tips to follow.

The main piece of advice anyone can give you is find a decent gym. There aren’t many around the UK but if you are lucky enough to live near a MMA focused gym it is recommended that you take full advantage of it. If not then not to worry,Starting out in Mixed Martial Arts Articles you can join classes such as kick boxing or other sorts of fighting. Usually MMA focused gyms would have the actual cage, and ring as well as usual gym facilities like training area, gym equipment, sauna etc. Some classes work out cheaper than going to a special MMA gym. If money saving is what you are after then classes are a safer option for your pockets. If you are looking at this as an investment then it would be better to find a place with slightly higher prices, this could mean you learn a lot more and have a better quality of training. Another thing to remember is everybody is there to learn. If somebody is really trying to hurt you in training then you may need to re-think where you are training. Most fighters know that when not in the ring or cage they are sharing knowledge with each other and not purposely trying to hurt one and other but teach each other to improve overall skills and technique.

Another thing to remember is, don’t take too many different styles of classes. Find which one you can pick up on easily and you enjoy the most. You will never learn anything if you try too much. The moves will be confusing and you will wear yourself out. Get into a comfort zone, it will be the best thing you do and it means you know you are good at one style of fighting. Make sure you exercise a lot; there is no point in starting a career in fighting if you are unfit. You won’t be able to fight and it could be really damaging to your health. It’s all about cardio and working up a sweat, improving the health of your heart, the way the blood flows through your body and burning fat. Quitting smoking and alcohol is a major thing too as well as completely changing how you eat and how active you are at home. If MMA is something you are really interested in your whole life will change.

Make sure you have the correct gear to fight in, appropriate MMA clothing is a must. Some clothing is designed in a way that can alter the way you fight, whether it is the kind of material that has no grip or just uncomfortable. So have a look online for good MMA clothing stores.

One last piece of advice is treating everybody in the gym how you would want to be treat, It is a un-written rule that you respect. The more respect everyone gives each other then, the more likely you are to get support and advice if you do have a big fight coming up. Don’t be afraid to seek advice and pick people’s brains either as you need to learn just as much as everybody else.
