I like a round of golf. It's a nice walk around a park with something to keep me occupied. The only problem is,Titleist's 'Vokey' Wedges Articles somebody keeps putting those blasted sand pits in the way. I wouldn't mind if they were a little further away or a little closer to the tee, but no, they're located just where I’d rather they weren't and the slightest hook or slice will land me in one of the blasted things. I’m starting to wonder if they were put there on purpose.

Fortunately those boffins behind golf technology at Titleist have designed a new sand wedge which they claim will get me out of the sand trap with ease. Designed by Bob Vokey; an avid golf fanatic who has been designing and making golf clubs since 1976 and being the son of a tool maker, another avid golfer and tinkerer in all things golf, Bob comes from a good pedigree. Over the years Bob Vokey has worked with a variety of top golf manufacturers, but it wasn't until he started working on Titleist golf clubs he started to specialise in designing wedges.

It is claimed that around 40% of all 'short game' clubs such as the sand wedge, putting wedge and lob wedges used in professional golf tournaments are from Bob Vokey, and for good reason. Bob understands just how versatile a short-game club should be and working with Titleist clubs gives him the freedom to develop his range of wedges further. Combining hand milled expertise with computer aided design and manufacture allows for an ultra flat face with re-engineered grooves with a tighter edge radius and tighter groove spacing enables maximum conforming spin and distance control.

Working closely with professional golfers and delivering what they require from a 'short club' has led to a variety if sole designs in this latest range of Titleist golf clubs. By offering a variety of sole bounce and grinding options allows players to hit the ball close and with ease, even on underpowered shots where spin and distance control are not compromised either. This new and exciting range of Titleist clubs and most notably their wedges from Bob Vokey will hopefully mean I'll spend less time trying to get out of the sand trap and other hazards easier than I could previously. In spite of the fact I’m thoroughly looking forward to giving my new sand wedge a try, I hope I won't have to use it too often.
