Just 2 weeks after the French Open the best tennis players in the world gather in London to determine who is going to be this year king and queen of tennis on grass. The prestigious tournament starts on 20th June and ends on 3 July with the men's final. Wimbledon is the oldest tennis tournament in the world. At the start of the championship there are 128 player or 64 pairs for each gender in the singles tournament, 64 pairs for same-sex doubles and 48 pair for Mixed Doubles tournament.

The format of the tournament is the same as the format of the other Grand Slam Tournaments. Men play matches that are 3 of 5 sets, while women matches are 2 of 3 sets. There are 32 seed players in the women and men tournament. These players have guarantee entry in the tournament based on their ranking in ATP and WTA rankings. There are player invited by the organizers with wild card. These players don't have high enough ranking but are player that will attract a lot of interest from the audience. Players with low ranking have to pass 3 round qualification tournament to ensure their participation in the main event if they don't receive wild cards.

The champion in each of the singles tournament wins a prize money of 1,100Psychology Articles,000 which is 10% more than last year tournament. The runner-up also receives prize money but half of what the champion gets. The tournament brings 2000 points to the player who wins it for the ATP and WTA rankings. From the head wear to the socks and shoes everything on the player wears must be white.

If you want to be a spectator in the stands for a match of the tournament then be prepared to spend a lot of money. The tickets are not easily acquired and cost quite a lot depending on the player who is going to play on the court. Of course you can watch the tournament in your home and invite friends to make the atmosphere more exiting and competitive.
