VIDEO QUALITY: The BDP-S770 has the newest HDMI Output, version 1.4. This will provide you with 1080p/24 playback with standard 2D Blu-ray and 3D Blu-ray Discs. The new 1.4 HDMI does not mean you have to go out and buy a new HDMI cable. If you already have a High Speed HDMI cable, this will be good enough to transfer the 3D signal to your TV. Of course to display 3D images, you will require a 3D HDTV and a pair of 3D glasses.

Like all good Blu-ray DVD Players, the BDP-S770 is equipped with a wonderful set of features to go along with its Blu-ray disc playback. It is a Profile 2.0 player that handles BD-Live data. BD-Live data can be access on certain Blu-ray Discs and then downloaded from the internet to your player. The BDP-S770 has an Ethernet Port and built-in Wi-Fi to provide you with easy access to the internet and BD-Live data. It has 1GB of internal storage memory, so downloading BD-Live data or updating firmware should will be a breeze. It you need extra storage, there are two USB ports that can be used for this purpose. The USB Port can also be used for your videos, photos or music by connecting your digital camera, MP3 player or USB Flash Drive.

Once connected to the internet you can get access to of Sony's Bravia Internet Video. It will allow you to stream a variety of movies, TV shows, videos and music from online media services such as Netflix®, Amazon on Demand, YouTube™, Pandora ™, Slacker® and many more. The player even uses an Entertainment Database Browser, powered by Gracenote Meadata Services, to give you instant detailed information about the movies you are viewing. Quality from these online streaming videos can vary, so to improve the overall picture of online streaming, the BDP-S770 has the I/P Noise Reduction feature. Giving you crisp, clear images from streaming content.

Other features include Share Personal Entertainment (DLNA). Once connected to your Home Network, you can access music, videos and photos from any DLNA certified device, like your computer or phone, and display it on your TV. If you happen to own a iPhone or iPod touch you can download a free app that will turn these devices into a versatile remote control for the BDP-S770. The BDP-S770 is a Profile 2.0 player so it supports BD-Live content and has 1GB of internal memory for downloading content.

THE CONS: The Blu-ray DVD Player lacks multi-channel analog audio outputs. Those who have an older, non-HDMI, A/V receiver, and want to decode the HD audio formats externally, will be out of luck. 3D content is still rare and you will require a 3D HDTV and 3D glasses to view 3D images. There is no SD Card Slot.
