Heat Exchangers: 3 Primary Varieties Examined

Heat Exchangers are normally being used in large industries where heating something is important. But, then you need to make sure that you know what the best heat exchangers are.

There is a large variety of heat exchangers that can be used, most of them have different purposes. Not only do you need to know the purpose of why you need to make use of a heat exchanger, but you also need to make sure that you know which one is going to be best for you. These are the best three heat exchangers that can be used. Choosing any one of these three is going to be best for any industry.

The three best heat exchangers

The first thing that you need to know, is what the three best heat exchangers are. Because of the variety of these exchangers, it can be hard to know which ones are the best to use. Especially if you don’t have the right experience in heat exchangers.

These are the three best heat exchangers that you can choose when you need to make use of a heat exchanger in your home or in your company:

  • Plate coil heat exchanger
  • Shell and tube heat exchanger
  • Plate heat exchanger

To understand which one to choose, you will need to get a better understanding of each of these three exchangers.

1) Plate Coil Heat Exchanger

The dimple plate or plate coil heat exchanger is the one that is getting used the most. Even if the other two methods are just as effective and even cheaper than this option, the dimple plate exchanger is the preferred method.

With the dimple plate heat exchanger, the concept is simple and effective. These are just two steel sheets that are spot-welded together. Making channels between the two sheets for the cold and warm liquid to move around. Ensuring that the liquid is staying warm all the time. Using less energy to warm up the liquid. It’s the main reason why this is the preferred method.

2) Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger

With the shell and tube heat exchangers, the components that the exchangers consist of are shells and tubes. The fluid goes into the one tube, getting heated and then being transfer to the shell. The cold fluid in the shell is then going to the tubes to be heated again.

The benefit of making use of this heat exchanger is that it is more efficient in heating. This heating method is cheap, but not many people are choosing this option anymore. This is the older method of heat exchangers.

3) Plate Heat Exchanger

With this plate and frame heat exchanger, you are getting two plates and a frame that is holding the plates together. The liquid is going from one plate to the next. The hot liquid is transferred to the one plate, and the cold liquid is getting transferred back to the plate that is doing the heating.

After the cold liquid is reheated, then it switches again. The same concept as with the shell and tube heat exchangers, but with a plate instead of tubes. It takes a bit longer to heat, but it keeps warmer for longer.

Heat exchangers. Which one would you choose when you need to make use of a heat exchanger. There are three heat exchangers that you can choose from that is better than the other exchangers. And, if you want to make sure that you are going to get value for money, you need to make sure that you are considering one of these mentioned three heat exchangers.
