With its eminent features,How to Integrate Selenium Grid With Docker Articles it is successfully providing a number of benefits to the teams. Especially with Selenium Grid, teams are able to run tests in parallel and distribute tests across several virtual machines. Also, by integrating Selenium Grid with Docker, teams can efficiently run distributed applications faster by taking up less space than Virtual Machines.

Selenium is a very popular automation framework and widely preferred by many teams because of its suite of tools such as Selenium IDE, Selenium RC, Selenium WebDriver, and Selenium Grid. Among these, Selenium Grid is effectively benefitting development teams to run tests in parallel on multiple systems or machines. Also, by configuring Selenium Grid with Docker, the process has become more efficient and faster in running distributed applications with a limited amount of space being occupied.

Configuring with Docker is really the best option compared to virtual machines. But, there are still a few enterprises that work with virtual machines. This is mainly because they are not aware of the benefits and feel integration is complicated with Docker.

What is Selenium Grid?

Selenium Grid is one of the major tools of selenium that is effectively used for running selenium tests parallel and for distributing tests across multiple virtual machines. To run tests in parallel with the selenium grid, it is essential to configure the selenium grid with Nodes and Hubs.

Hub is the main point where test requests are received along with the needed configurations and capabilities. According to the received request, the hub distributes the test cases between the registered nodes.

Most of the enterprises make use of virtual machines for executing these selenium scripts. But, the drawback of the virtual machines is that based on the amount of scripts, the node machines have to get integrated. And, this results in issues in the Grid environment while setting up browsers and OS combinations.

What is Docker?

Docker can be much similar to a container. It is an open platform used by system administrators and developers. These Docker users can put databases, libraries, and dependencies into these containers and later use them for building, deploying, and running distributed applications. Though it is often referred to as expensive and time-consuming, Dockers efficiently solve time-consuming and cost-related issues.

How to integrate Selenium Grid with Docker?

  1. Before planning to integrate Selenium Grid with Docker, it is essential to install some prerequisites on your machine, such as:
  • Selenium Web Driver Jars
  • Chrome and Mozilla Firefox browsers installed in the machine
  • JDK v1.7+
  • To enable parallel testing, make the parallel flag true in TestNG.xml
  • Have test cases that are designed in TestNg and Selenium Web Driver
  1. After meeting the requirements, download and install the Docker. After it is properly installed, need to install hubs and nodes for integrating, i.e. required to install the hub and node images into the Docker. Consider five images such as Selenium hub image, selenium node-firefox image, selenium node-chrome image, selenium node-firefox-debug image, and selenium node-chrome-debug image.
  2. Next, these images have to be found on the Docker Hub. Search the images and there will be a number of image repositories. Among these, select the image that is having the highest number of pulls.
  3. A window will be opened with a Docker pull command and this helps in installing the Docker image in the container. Continue the same one by one to get the Docker pull command for all images and download it into the container.
  4. Now, for starting selenium hub from Docker container, make use of a special command such as docker run -d -p 4444:4444 –name selenium-hub selenium/hub and the Selenium hub will be directly opened from the Docker Container.
  5. Now, make use of both chrome node and Firefox node; and then Chrome debug node and Firefox debug node. Refresh the browser, and Firefox and Chrome will get started from the container.
  6. Now, identify the port numbers of chrome debug nodes and Firefox debug nodes to start both the browsers using Virtual Network Computing viewer.
  7. Finally, create selenium test scripts and run them to see the different browsers created through Docker.

Conclusion:

The above-mentioned information completely details about Selenium Grid, Docker, and the steps to integrate the selenium grid with Docker. Though the steps are much simpler, leverage automation testing services from next-gen QA testing services provider to achieve the complete benefits with the Selenium Test Automation framework.

Why is it important to use regression testing?

Today every business needs high-quality software to deliver a seamless experience to customers. And to improve the quality of software businesses make frequent changes in the software which sometimes affects its existing functionality. The affected functionalities hamper the smooth functioning of software which ultimately hampers UX. Therefore to identify and fix issues regression testing method is used. Let’s now try to understand more about regression testing.

Different types of Security testing

Data is considered to be one of the most vital aspects of an organization. If the data is not secured, then chances are intruders or cyber attackers will try to exploit the data for their own benefit, which in turn can prove to be a huge loss to an organization. Hence, performing security testing to test and evaluate the information security system of an organization is considered to be a really important activity. In this article, you will get to know some of the important types of security testing.
