When you are going on a vacation or even just have a pool or live by a lake, you may want to have a waterproof digital camera to help you get more pictures of your life in the water.

If you are going on vacation to a place where you will be swimming in the water or may want to take pictures that are underwater, then you may have thought about purchasing a waterproof digital camera. Now this can be a great way to get shots when you are scuba diving, but it does bring up many questions, including is it worth the money that you will put into it? The first thing many people look at when they are considering waterproof digital camera is the beautiful pictures that they see from these cameras in the commercials and different advertisements. . However, this is not always what you will get as many of the pictures for these advertisements are done with high quality professional equipment. Many of these cameras have an issue with the lens getting foggy underwater, which creates a foggy picture or at least a distorted one that is not comparable to a regular camera with the same megapixels.

Often times these waterproof digital cameras do not have all the different features that a regular digital camera has and you will find that you will not be able to do as much with it. For instance, if you are a  person that loves to take video with your camera, you may be disappointed by the lack of this feature or the low quality that it has.

Another thing that you should realize is that many of these cameras, especially the ones on the lower end of the price spectrum do not have the great waterproofing capabilities that they claim. By looking at reviews for various digital cameras like this, you will find many people that say that their camera was ruined in the water. Worse yet, many of them say that even their SD card was ruined in the process, meaning the loss of any precious photos that were on it.

There are many great reasons for wanting to have a waterproof digital camera. But the fact is that unless you are willing to shell out some serious money, it will probably not be worth the money for the frustration it will bring. The other option you have with this is to get disposable cameras that are waterproof. This can help you to get the pictures you want and not worry about ruining the camera you have.
