Mini hearing aids for the hearing impaired

When there is a loss of hearing there is a need to invest in a hearing aid otherwise one will be left in a total world of silence. There are various models of hearing aids available. Now there are mini hearing aids.

The loss of hearing means that the person is enveloped in silence. With the help of normal hearing aids or mini hearing aids the world of sound is possible.

Mini hearing aids that are worn behind the ear are increasing in popularity. Behind the ear means that the transmitter is worn behind the ear with the receiver placed in the ear. One of the styles of behind the ear aids is the open ear fittings. These are mini hearing aids. There are two types of behind the ear mini hearing aids. One is where the receiver is placed in the ear and the other one is where the receiver is placed in the hearing aid itself.

Why mini hearing aids of the open ear style is popular, is because it is small, easy to use, it could be tested and fitted on the same day  and also eliminates any echoes that are caused due to the block in the ear canal when using other types of hearing aids. What is so good about this type of mini hearing aids is that the sound is of natural quality. This is great because they could now listen to music or hear sounds in their natural state without it being an echo or seeming to come from a distance. Using the open ear mini hearing aids also allows the hearing impaired to carry on a telephone conversation without any upsets in the frequencies. This type of mini hearing aids is suitable for those with mild to severe loss of hearing.

Some of the disadvantages that may arise due to the mini hearing aids are, that if it is being used for a child then the hearing aid will have to be replaced by a bigger one as the child’s ear increases in size. There is also a possibility that the mini hearing aids placed inside the ear may become prone to defects due to the build up of ear wax on the aids. Due to the small size of the hearing aid changing the battery and volume modulations may prove difficult.

The main thing to keep in mind is that the wearer should feel comfortable wearing the hearing aid no matter what style is chosen. Whilst the mini hearing aids or any other normal hearing aid will not allow the wearer the sense of sound it will certainly allow the joy of sound and mitigate the loss of hearing.
