Preserve Your Night Vision with LED Flashlight

The word night vision drives the mind of a person to goggles which enable to see in the dark. However, these devices were made after being inspired by the natural night vision of a human eye.

You might have wondered that how can you see in the dark by staying there for some time? Another question arises that why can not a person see immediately after entering a dark room. Our bodies are adaptive, however the change takes time. Natural processes are slow and take certain amount of time, since the body is not made to adapt to sudden changes. The problem arises when a person turns on their white LED flashlight, in the dark, just to be disappointed and turns it off. When this happens the natural night vision of your eye has to reset, which takes time again. Estimate time for your eye to adjust to the darkness is about half an hour.

A white LED flashlight was made for the purpose to see in the dark, then why would a person turn it off? The reason is simple, white LED is not the best when it comes to viewing things in detail in a natural environment. Not only would you find it difficult to part things with this light, but you would have wasted away your natural night vision, as well. The adjustment of your eye with respect to light is handled by a chemical known as rhodopsin. This is a highly light sensitive natural biological pigment found in the eye of a person which changes shape with the amount of light it absorbs. The absorption of light allows the amount of light to be detected. The amount of light changes when a person tries view things with a white LED flashlight; it changes again when you turn it off. This makes it difficult for rhodopsin to detect the proper amount of light; hence you lose your night vision.

If you want to preserve your night vision, then you need to purchase a certain type of LED flashlight. Keep in mind that there are flashlights that come in different colors including white. If a person does not want to view things in detail then using red light LED flashlight would be best. This color is dim and the rods in your eye do not detect the change, hence your night vision does not get disturbed.
